Lake of Stars – Malawi


Lake of Stars Festival is an annual three – Day International Festival held on the shores of Lake Malawi, the 3rd largest lake in Africa.

The festival commenced in 2004 attracting over 3000 attendees and with music from Africa and United Kingdom.

The festival was founded by British tourist Will Jameson during his part – time vacation job with the Wildfire Society in Malawi. In 2014, the festival was named one of the top seven African music festivals to attend by CNN.

Time Out named Lake of Stars as having the most beautiful festival location in the world in 2015.

Wide swaths of international performers play at Lake of Stars, many of whom are from Africa and the United Kingdom.

Some of the Artists who have performed at the festival include; Afrikan Boy, Tay Grin, Mafikizolo, Mista Jam, Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi, Sauti Sol, John Wizards, Foals, Noisettes, Freshly Ground, etc.

According to the organizers, the focus in 2017 is on Youth Development as the main festival will be given a break in 2017 but will return in September 2018.
